Team CKc Courier

Hello CKc Community!

In this update, we are excited to announce that the Phase 1 pediatric brain cancer immunotherapy clinical trial CKc helped fund, with a $100,000 grant in August, is officially open and is now accepting patients. We are so excited for this huge step towards finding a cure. Ashley and Melissa will be traveling to Georgia in the next few months to visit the trial in progress and will be reporting back to the CKc Community how your donations are helping to change the face of pediatric cancer.  Click here to read more about the clinical trial and what Dr. Johnson and his team at GRU Cancer Center hope to accomplish.

CKc Community, we need your help! We are in need of corporate sponsorships and auction items for our first annual Gold Gala in April 2016. Sponsorship packages are available at a variety of investment levels and we can even help customize a package for your company’s needs. Don’t miss out on this easy and effective way to support CKc and our mission to further pediatric cancer research in pursuit of a cure. Proceeds from the Gold Gala will go directly towards funding pediatric cancer research, just like the trial mentioned above. Any donation of items or level of sponsorship is appreciated, and you don’t need to live in Orlando to help! If interested, please contact the Gold Gala Chair, Shereen Toffetti, at

The CKc Card club received a delightfully spooky influx of Halloween-themed cards to bring cheer and uplifting messages to children fighting cancer. Thanks to St. James Cathedral School in Orlando for adopting the CKc Card Club as one of several awareness and fundraising activities they will pursue as they continue their dedicated support of CKc for the entire school year! Cards were mailed to children throughout the U.S. and will also be hand-delivered, along with a lovingly prepared dinner, by BASE Camp in Orlando. Thank you for being a great partner, BASE Camp!

Here is a small sample of these sweet cards. Thank you, St. James Cathedral School!

We are still asking for your assistance in building a Resource Page for our website. If you or your organization can help provide resources such as airline tickets, care packages, travel assistance, iPads, etc., please contact Debra Brett at and she will follow up with you. You can also contact us if you have an organization you can recommend or have personally used.

Team CKc wishes you a wonderful weekend and a fun, safe Halloween!
