Team CKc Courier for October 9, 2015

Hello CKc Community!

Hard to believe we have welcomed October! Where does the time go?! We hope you are enjoying the first few weeks of fall. Here is a recap of our highlights from the past two weeks:

September certainly didn’t “go out like a lamb”. We came in like and lion and went out like a lion, too! Thank you, CKc Community, for all of your support to help make Childhood cancer Awareness Month a success. Success in the fact we DID create awareness and we are reaching audiences we never did before. Success in the fact we DID raise money for pediatric cancer research. Success in the fact we were able to help educate many people about why raising funds for pediatric cancer research is so critical. However, we continue to strive for more. We won’t stop because September has ended. Why? Because we know we will only have achieved true success when we no longer have the need for Childhood cancer Awareness Month.

Coming soon, we look forward to sharing with you inspirational stories of how our CKc Community is supporting us in a new blog feature called CKc Community Spotlight.

Hopefully, you are aware that we launched our fabulous CKc jewelry and accessories online store! Show your support year round with fashionable earrings, necklaces, bracelets, keychains and more! Visit our store and keep these items in mind for holiday gift giving! Half of all proceeds from jewelry sales will go towards pediatric cancer research.

Our inaugural Gold Gala event committee is in full swing now as we are just six and a half months away from this spectacular evening! The event will be held April 23, 2016. We are in need of corporate sponsorships and auction items! Sponsorship packages include tickets to the event, corporate recognition and many other perks. If you are interested in learning how your company can support pediatric cancer research through an event sponsorship or auction item donation, please contact event chair Shereen Toffetti at Thank you!

We still need your support in developing a resource page on our web site which will assist in providing information for families who are caring for a child with cancer. Our foundation’s focus is funding pediatric cancer research and finding cures for these children. However, we recognize there are many needs that exist for families who are in treatment now. If you or your organization can help provide resources such as airline tickets, care packages, travel assistance, iPads, etc., please contact Debra Brett at and she will follow up with you.

In addition, if you know of grant opportunities, through work or personal connections, which will help us further pediatric cancer research, please contact Ashley VanDerMark at She will follow up with you directly.

As I stated before, September and Childhood cancer Awareness Month may be over, but that doesn’t stop the need to create awareness and raise funds year round. Especially with the holidays coming up, how can you help us spread awareness and raise money for pediatric cancer research? Can you incorporate a CKc Card Club event into one of your holiday gatherings? Can you gift our book, Thankful For The Fight or some CKc jewelry? Can you host a holiday party fundraiser and donate proceeds to CKc? Now is the time to start planning!

Thank you!
