This day. Today. Is the happiest day of my life. Nope, not the day I got married, not the day I gave birth, not the day Cannon became NED. No... today! Today is the happiest day of my life!
I was on the phone with a friend recently and I said "I know he has chemo for another year and regular scans and blood and urine and I'm not supposed to say this but in my mind it feels like we beat cancer - today it feels like we beat it."
She said, "Screw that! Who cares what your supposed to say or not say! You did beat it! Cannon DID beat it!"
She is right! It's true!
Worrying about the beast coming back won't stop it from coming back.
So today... today it feels like we beat cancer!
I want to thank everyone who prayed!!! We needed those prayers and you all or y'all ;) provided them! We needed the best surgeons, treatments, doctors - we found them. We did whatever it took and now we are here!!!
It's crazy!! Amazeballs, some might say!
Today I am happier than I think I have ever been!!! I mean truly!!!
Today is an example of answered prayers and modern medicine! So thankful!
Today as Cannon gets his port removed 40 kids in America get one placed. 40 kids are about to start this journey. If you can imagine that, you can imagine my gratitude for this day!
I've watched a child not even two years old be buried in the ground. If you can imagine that, you can imagine my gratitude for this day!
I've watched Cannon on life support for five days. If you can imagine that, you can imagine my gratitude for this day!
On Tuesday I'm driving from Orlando and our CEO is driving from North Carolina to Augusta, Georgia. We will be presenting a check for $100,000 to a pediatric brain cancer project we believe in!! We want every dollar to go to research so we are driving rather than flying and are sharing a room to save money. We are so dedicated to this cause.
Cannon's journey with cancer may be coming close to the end but our Foundation's journey is only beginning: watch this space!!!
My husband was just in Washington, DC lobbying with the Chief of Staff for the Appropriations Committee - more on that later. I just want to take a moment and say how proud I am of my husband. He works like a dog for our family and so that Cannon could receive the best care in the country. I am so thankful he is my teammate in life! A truly amazing man!
Thank you again! Prayers work! Period!
I continue to be
