Hello CKc Community!
What a tremendous two weeks it has been here at CKc!
As many of you know, we hosted our first-ever Gold Gala fundraising event, on April 23, to raise money to help fund pediatric cancer research and, ultimately, help find a cure. Our goal was to raise $100,000 in one night. When we started planning the event, we knew this was a lofty goal, but we were determined to meet it. Well, fast-forward nine months, and we are thrilled to report we not only met our goal, but blew past it! The event raised $150,000 for research!! Wow!!! We couldn’t have been more thrilled with the outcome of the event. It was a splendid evening and we were surrounded by people who are passionate about our cause. Thank you to everyone who attended, bid on the auction items, supported us from afar with donations, volunteered on our event committee and believed in us! We will communicate with you when we have finalized our selection of the neuroblastoma and rhabdomyosarcoma clinical trials we will support with the money raised. Together, we will provide hope!!
Coverage of the Gold Gala’s success was highlighted on a news segment on Orlando’s Channel 13 News and during a Family Minute segment on Channel 9 News (WFTV). We hope to be able to share the coverage on Channel 9 soon.
As promised, we have loaded onto the CKc website our new video that premiered at the Gold Gala. Please take just a few minutes to watch this powerful video that we created to educate others on why CKc is so passionate about funding pediatric cancer research and why your support of CKc is so critical. We need YOU to help find better treatments. We need YOU to help find a cure. We need YOU to help save lives. Watch our new video here.
On April 20th, we also had the honor of being highlighted in a news conference as the inspiration behind a new pediatric cancer foundation started by San Francisco Giants star Buster Posey and his wife, Kristen. The Poseys were introduced to CKc co-founders Michael and Melissa Wiggins through a mutual friend. The Poseys followed Cannon’s cancer-fighting journey and formed a special relationship with the Wiggins family, which will now result in a double-header in the fight against pediatric cancer. The Poseys have invited Melissa to speak at their foundation’s first fundraising event in San Francisco on September 14. Melissa will be joined by Michael and Cannon for this special day as it is also the momentous day that Cannon will take his last-ever chemotherapy treatment after three and a half years of fighting cancer! Click here for a link to an article covering the Posey's press announcement. Thank you, Buster and Kristen, for joining the fight!
Until next time!
