Hello CKc Community,
We hope you enjoy the long holiday weekend with family and friends. CKc would like to take a moment to thank all of the service men and women who bravely fight for our country and we honor those who have courageously given their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We are already full speed ahead on preparing for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September. We have had multiple meetings over the past two weeks preparing for this special month. Melissa will be speaking at three fundraising events across the country and our CEO, Ashley, will be participating in CureFest in Washington D.C. We may have a few other opportunities to talk about soon, too! It will be a busy month, but we love doing our part in raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer!
Michael and Melissa were recently featured in an excellent article in the College Park Community Paper. Please take a moment to read the article to learn more about the people and passion that drives CKc. Michael and Melissa will also be traveling to Washington D.C. in early June to speak before 250 lawyers and lobbyists and lobby on Capitol Hill for two days in an effort to educate others about the need to fund research for pediatric cancer.
We would like to thank Greenberg Traurig for the generous $5K donation they made to CKc. They have supported us for a couple years and we are so thankful for their dedication in helping us fight pediatric cancer!
Lastly, a second grade class at The Christ School in Orlando, Fla., held a CKc Card Club event as part of their end-of-year celebration. How sweet that these children took time out of celebrating their own achievements to remember the precious children who are in hospitals or at home fighting the number one disease killer of children - cancer. Thank you to Mrs. Nabors' class!
Happy Memorial Day!
