Friends and Fellow Golfers
On Saturday, 29 August 2015, the Third Annual Cannonball Kids' cancer Golf Day will take place at Dundonald Links, Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland. Please see the video from last year’s event: https://vimeo.com/105137419.
The event will be a fun day of golf, food, drink, friendship and a fantastic auction. The entire day will benefit the Cannonball Kids' cancer Foundation (CKc), a charitable foundation started in honor of our son, Cannon Wiggins, who has fought stage IV neuroblastoma cancer since April 2013, is now cancer-free, and currently enrolled in a clinical trial to prevent relapse. The Foundation was started by Melissa and me to educate worldwide about the lack of funding for research for more effective treatments for the 12 different primary types of children's cancers. The Foundation’s goal is to fund clinical trials and other research in the UK, Europe, and the US with a goal to one day bring an end to cancer suffered by our children. This year, thanks to many of you that have participated in previous Cannonball Kids’ cancer Golf Days, the Foundation is funding a clinical trial in Augusta, Georgia that is dedicated to finding the cause and a cure for several specific types of pediatric brain cancer. Later this year, we hope to fund an ongoing clinical trial in Aberdeen, Scotland so that children fighting against relapse of neuroblastoma cancer in the UK won’t have to travel to America to be able to take the experimental drug and can participate in this very promising trial. Our Foundation is committed to children with cancer worldwide, regardless of race, ethnicity, or country of origin.
Dundonald Links is a fabulous golf course, a Kyle Phillips design (Kingsbarns, California Golf Club to name a few), and recent host of the British Boys Amateur Championship (2014) and the Ladies Scottish Open (2015), both R&A events. http://www.dundonaldlinks.com/
Would you please join us at Dundonald Links on 29 August? Foursomes will be £500 or individuals can join us and be placed in a foursome for £125 per golfer. A live auction will be held after the golf tournament, and items will include tickets to sporting events, golf equipment, foursomes at world class venues, and holidays in the UK and US. If you would like to be a part of this great event for a cause that will surely save the lives of children, please contact the Director of Golf at Dundonald, Guy Redford, at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 1294-314-000.
If you have interest in playing, please do not wait until the last minute -- last year's event was sold out and golfers were turned away. A maximum of 25 foursomes will go off in a shotgun start (100 golfers). The format of the tournament will be a stableford scoring with the best 2 balls of the foursome -- this is not a scramble! After the tournament, we will have food, the live auction and presentation of prizes.
If you can’t play but would still like to attend, please come out to support the effort to rid our children of pediatric cancer. Come out for a great cause and have a great day. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you at Dundonald!
